Searched “vietnam evisa processing time reddit” at midnight because mine hadn’t arrived. Flight in 52 hours.
Found 200 posts saying contradictory things. Very calming.
What Reddit Said
“Mine came in 2 days, you’re fine.”
“Took 8 days, almost missed my trip.”
“Got denied at the airport, nobody could explain why.”
“Just show up, they’ll sort it out.”
Super helpful when you’re trying to decide whether to spend $90 on urgent backup processing or trust the system.
What Actually Happened
Day 5 of waiting. Original application through official portal. Flight leaves 6am tomorrow. Portal still showing “processing” in that cheerful blue color.
11pm: submitted urgent request through a paid service. Different company, different channel entirely.
4am: urgent approval arrived.
4:20am: original approval also arrived.
Paid for two visas. Used one. Slept zero hours. Made the flight.
The Math
- Money spent on duplicate visa: $95
- Money saved by not rebooking flight: $400+
- Money saved by not losing first night hotel: $180
- Hours of sleep lost: all of them
What I Do Now
If there’s any doubtโany at allโabout timing, I apply urgent from the start. The $70 premium over standard agencies buys certainty.
Vietnam is worth the trip. It’s not worth the stress of watching a portal say “processing” while your flight time approaches.
