“Vietnam visa in 24 hours” and “same-day e-visa” are everywhere online. Are they real, or marketing? Here is the honest answer, and the three things that actually decide whether it works for you.
The honest answer: yes, but conditionally
A genuinely fast Vietnam e-visa is possible through urgent/expedite handling that pushes your application through official priority channels. But “24 hours” is a typical best case, not a guarantee — three factors decide it.
3 things that decide whether 24 hours is realistic
- Your nationality. Some passports are processed faster than others.
- The time of day you apply. Late-night submissions may only start moving the next working period.
- Current immigration workload. Peak season and holidays slow everything, even urgent files.
When 24 hours will NOT work
- Your passport photo is poor quality or your name doesn’t match your passport.
- You apply over a major Vietnamese holiday such as Tet.
- You lodged a duplicate application (this delays both — never do it).
What to do if your flight is imminent
If you’re inside 24–48 hours of departure and still don’t have your visa, an emergency service escalates your existing file rather than starting over. Our emergency Vietnam visa guide walks through the exact steps and realistic turnaround tiers.
The official portal is always evisa.gov.vn; urgent services work alongside it, not instead of it.
